- THE CATCHER IN THE RYE BY J.D.SALINGER; This book is banned in America by The American Library Association it states “The Catcher in the Rye has been banned by schools and public libraries for having excess vulgar language, sexual scenes, things concerning moral issues, excessive violence and anything dealing with the occult, among other things”. I rate it 4/5.
- HEART OF DARKNESS BY JOSEPH CONRAD; A book set outside the UK, on a steamer boats voyage up the Congo river. First published in 1899, a reflection on corruptive European colonialism. I rate it 3/5
- THE SHAPE OF DARKNESS BY LAURA PURCELL; PURCELL is a new author to me, her Victorian-era gothic horror murder storyline was awesome and I excited to look at other books from this author. I rate it 4/5.
- THE FOXGLOVE KING BY HANNAH F. WHITTEN; Published in March 2023, it is the first in The Nightshade Crown series and I rate it 3/4.
- INSURGENT BY VERONICA ROTH; The second in the dystopian series by ROTH, I rate it 3/5
- THE 4-HOUR WORK WEEK BY TIMOTHY FERRISS; Number in the title, and an audiobook as I was unsure about this read (listen). I rate it 3/5
- ME AND WHITE SUPREMACY BY LAYLA SAAD AND ROBIN DIANGELO; This is my free choice for this month. I rate it 4/5
- A ROOM WITH A VIEW BY E.M.FORSTER; The purple cover such as this ebook, E.M.FORSTER I rate it 3/5.
- HOW TO FIND YOUR FIRST HUSBAND; Standalone ebook I found in the sale section. I rate it 3/5.
- THE BLOOD CARD BY ELLY GRIFFITHS; this spot is for a female author and I chose Elly Griffiths's third instalment in the Brighton mysteries series. I rate it 4/5
- ON THE COME UP BY ANGIE THOMAS; for the ‘face on the cover’ space I enjoyed Angie Thoma’s book. I rate 4/5
- MORE THAN ENOUGH BY ELAINE WELTEROTH; Audiobooks some love them others hate them, as I listened to this audiobook, I rated it 4/5
- LORD OF THE FLIES BY WILLIAM GOLDING; To be read relic square book choice has been hanging around from when I was in year 9 in secondary school! I rate it 3/5.
- THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST; For the less than 100 pages this pick was a great choice and I rate it 4/5
