January Book Bingo with Me!
I get inspiration from the books I read, and I like to read! Goodreads annual challenge is my type of challenge. With this in mind I have created a January Book Bingo card.
By the 18th January 2023 I had completed my bingo card! So here are all the books I read and a ‘five second’ review of all 15 books.
- A ROOM OF ONE’S OWN BY VIRGINIA WOOLF: This book is overall an interesting essay based on lectures she delivered in 1928, a little thought proving but nothing taxing and published first in 1929. I would rate it 4/5
- MERE CHRISTIANITY BY C.S.LEWIS: It is what it is, great if you enjoy a debate about religion. Published first in 1942 and it shows! I rate it 3/5
- DIVERGENT BY VERONICA ROTH: I had previously seen the film when it came out in 2014 and now finally got round to reading the book. The statement holds true with this book vs film; as the book was better! I rate it 4/5
- MIDNIGHT SUN BY STEPHENIE MEYER: I chose this book as it is 658 pages long. Teenage anxiety and toxic codependency. I also wanted to compare it to the first twilight book. Read them simultaneously and it had and interesting impact on the story. I rate it 3/5
- THE WAVES BY VIRGINIA WOOLF: Melancholic, poetical and beautiful visuals. A classic that should be on your TBR (to be read) list. I rate it 4/5
- TO THE LIGHTHOUSE BY VIRGINIA WOOLF: A beautiful novel set on the Isle of sky, as it examines the human life and how peoples connections to a place and other people. I rate it 5/5
- THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME BY MARK HADDON: If I was honest I was giving this book over five years ago and finally got round to it this year. I was about to make a start on it last year by never did. Now to say it’s not about a dog but a dog is a catalyst for what was to come is the best summary I can accomplish. I rate it 4\5
- HOW TO BE AN ANTIRACIST BY IBRAM X.KENDI: A must read. For an equitable Society. I rate it 5/5
- DEATH BY CHOCOLATE BY CAROL LEE: This book I downloaded as a free ebook, a dessert fuelled murder mystery which is a cozy and cute as cake at 101 pages long! I rate it 3/4
- SMOKE AND MIRRORS BY ELLY GRIFFITHS: I really enjoy the Ruth Galloway series written by this author, so I decided to give her Brighton mysteries a go. I rate it 4/5
- THE ZIG ZAG GIRL BY ELLY GRIFFITHS: The first in the Brighton Mysteries, I rate it 5/5
- TWILIGHT BY STEPHENIE MEYER: Again Teenage anxiety and toxic codependency. And as previously mentioned I wanted to compare it to the Midnight Sun and this book. Read them simultaneously and it had and interesting impact on the story. I rate it 3/5
- MEXICAN GOTHIC BY SILVIA MORENO-GARCIA: I just couldn’t put this down. This is a tale of why you should stay away from shrooms. I will recommend this to everyone. Hope your not scared by things that go bump in the night! I rate it 5/5
- LOVE PEOPLE, USE THINGS:BECAUSE THE OPPOSITE NEVER WORKS BY JOSHUA FIELDS MILBURN AND RYAN NICODEMUS: I am a minimalist in progress so i enjoyed this book. New year and New Me is throwing out my stuff! Coming to a charity shop near me…soon! I rate it 3/5
- BREAKING DAWN BY STEPHENIE MEYER: I chose this as my re-read as I felt it would be nice to bookend the saga. The first part of the story and the end. I rate it 3/5
