Apple Tree in Garden (2021)
Inspiration includes references from children books like Winnie-the-Pooh, by A. A Milne and illustrated by E.H. Shepherd, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, novel by Lewis Caroll, and illustrated by John Tenniel as well as many other children's books as during the covid lockdown of 2021 as we were allowed to rekindle childhood whimsy and create a world which was safe from the chaos outside our control. These stories also helped inspire the mixed media artwork is a symbolic sense even further due to a trees tells a story from each year as the tree forms annual growth rings.
As an artist that often works on paper to illustrate my point of view it only feels natural to illustrate part of the key medium I enjoy using. As well as to illustrate the environmental effects of climate change, as most experts agree that we are losing upwards of 80,000 acres of tropical rainforest daily. The complete artwork is created of acrylic paint, marker pens and watercolours on paper. Black frame, double mounted on size A4.
